"I feel empowered," said
Sefni-Ra, a Montessori teacher who lives in the Montrose area. She's buying
the e-bike from a dealer on Westheimer. She will ride it three miles to work and
on errands and use her car only for long trips.
Her e-bike looks like a
scooter and is made by Houston-based Veloteq.
Hey, hey, they're on their way! Houston gas prices have risen way
past the
$3 threshold and about to break $4.
Electricity prices are dropping making a Veloteq ebike an even better buy.

Massive Oil Deposit Could Increase US reserves
by 10x
(But there is a catch.)
Don't look South into the Gulf, look North to the high plains of North
Dakota.
America is sitting on top of a
super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field that could
potentially make America Energy Independent and until now
has largely gone unnoticed. Thanks to new technology the
Bakken Formation in North Dakota could boost America’s Oil
reserves by an incredible 10 times, giving western economies
the trump card against OPEC’s short squeeze on oil supply
and making Iranian and Venezuelan threats of disrupted
supply irrelevant. Estimates of recoverable oil using modern
extraction techniques run as high as 500 billion
gallons.
One of the reasons plastic disposable water bottles have become the
arch-nemeses of environmentalists in recent years is that they are (like all
other plastics) made out of crude oil. All those plastic bottles, plastic
silverware, plastic toys, etc. use up a lot of oil.

What ever happened to Lee Iacocca's EV Global?
Was Lee a prophet but a few years ahead of his time? Not really. His first
e-bikes were shipped to dealers in 1999. By that time, 40,000 e-bikes of
domestic design had already been sold in China in 1998. They have since
become a staple form of personal transportation in China, numbering over 100
million in use. Has the time come now?

California Air Resources Board Bicycle Fact
Sheet (click above)
Bicycling is important to the health of Californians -- and not just to
those doing the cycling. Statewide, about seven tons per day of smog-forming
gases and almost a ton of inhalable particles are spared from the air we
breathe due to use of bicycles rather than motor vehicles.
People choosing to pedal rather than drive usually replace short automobile
trips that are disproportionately high in pollutant emissions.
Walking away from the gasoline war. The case for electric bicycles.

Let drivers adapt to other safe ways of local transport that don't require
